Description

This position is a full – time, Kindergarten-12th Grade teaching position located in the Port Orford Langlois School District in Port Orford, OR, that starts in the 2025-2026 school year. The K-12 Family Academy Teacher will oversee a district alternative education program which is aimed at meeting the needs of students traditionally served by homeschooling, due to a variety of reasons that impede their ability to access their education in a more traditional, brick and mortar setting.

 

We seek a creative, versatile and passionate teacher who loves children and can team with students, families, colleagues and administration to provide a strong foundation for our K-12 students being served by this program. A sense of humor and genuine love for working with elementary, middle and high school students is a necessity.   This position requires initiative, a willingness to seek opportunities for growth, while working both independently and collaboratively.  The individual will be part of a district team, but will need to be a self-starter and have the ability to work independently with a wide variety of curriculums, content areas, age groups and family educational agendas, .

 

A successful applicant will have familiarity, knowledge and/or experience with:

  1. Literacy and mathematics principles
  2. RTi/MTSS programs
  3. Formative assessments
  4. Core instructional units of study with family-selected curriculums that align to grade-level state standards
  5. Behavior management programs, such as PBIS
  6. Collaboration with colleagues
  7. Collaboration with parents, families and students

In addition, a successful applicant will have the ability to keep, maintain, and help families keep and maintain, accurate attendance, academic, and behavior records, meet deadlines set forth by the school and district administration, and preserve a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality when dealing with student, staff and/or parent information.

 

The district provides professional development opportunities both within and outside of the district. 

 

Teachers may transfer up to 10 years of experience.

 

Extracurricular opportunities may be available for supervising high school and/or junior high school sports and activities.

 

The Port Orford – Langlois School District is comprised of two locations: Driftwood Elementary School, a K–6 school located in Port Orford with a population of approximately 130 students, and Pacific High School, a 7–12 junior/senior high school with approximately 105 students, that is located seven miles north of Port Orford and seven miles south of Langlois.
