This position is a full–time K–6 physical education/health teaching position located at Driftwood Elementary School in the Port Orford–Langlois School District 2CJ. This position starts in the 2025-26 school year.
The position will offer physical education/health instruction to students in grades K–6.
We seek a creative and passionate teacher who has a sense of humor and genuine love for working with all students in teaching physical education and health.
The successful candidate will be able to:
- Follow and implement state and national PE and Health standards for respective grade levels;
- Teach knowledge and skills in physical fitness, health education, and individual, dual or team sports, utilizing curriculum designated by Port Orford–Langlois School District;
- Plans and implements a balanced physical education and health program;
- Analyzes, demonstrates, and explains basic skills, knowledge and strategies of formal sports, games, rhythms, and fundamentals of body movement.
- Develops lesson plans and supplementary materials compatible with the district’s basic instructional philosophy; provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student and subgroups of students.
- Provides appropriate safety instruction and makes safety checks on equipment and field areas to ensure the overall safety of students.
- Maintains control of storage and use of school property.
- Evaluates each student’s growth in physical skills, knowledge and contribution in team sports.
- Demonstrate effective classroom management skills to provide an orderly, productive environment in the PE and Health classrooms;
- Communicate with colleagues, administration, and parents/guardians in a clear and consistent manner, following district guidelines and protocols.
- Ability to collaborate with staff in a team environment to work on building and district needs to meet the many and varied needs of our students.
In addition, a successful applicant will have the ability to keep and maintain accurate attendance, academic, and behavior records, meet deadlines set forth by the school and district administration, and preserve a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality when dealing with student, staff and/or parent information.

Teachers may transfer up to 10 years of experience.
Extracurricular opportunities may be available for high school and/or junior high school sports and activities.
The Port Orford–Langlois School District is comprised of two locations: Driftwood Elementary School, a K – 6 school located in Port Orford with a population of approximately 130 students, and Pacific High School, which houses grades 7-12 and is located seven miles north of Port Orford and seven miles south of Langlois that has a popultion of approximatly 105 students.
