This position is a full – time third grade teaching position located at Driftwood Elementary School in Port Orford, OR, that starts in the 2024-2025 school year.

 

We seek a creative and passionate teacher who loves children and can team with colleagues and administration to provide a strong foundation to our elementary students. A sense of humor and genuine love for working with elementary students is a necessity. The individual will be part of a collaborative team including primary school teachers, special education teachers, instructional assistants, interventionists, administration and volunteers.

 

A successful applicant will have familiarity, knowledge and/or experience with:

  1. Numeracy and mathematics principles
  2. Literacy practices and principles
  3. RTi program model
  4. PBIS principles and other classroom management principles
  5. Formative assessments
  6. Developmentally appropriate teaching and learning practices
  7. Vertical alignment of curriculum
  8. Classroom technology, such as Google Classroom, Chromebooks, etc.

 

This position will teach third grade mathematics, ELA, social studies, science, health, and other curriculum as assigned by administration.

 

A successful applicant will be able to:

 

  1. Demonstrate supportive and effective classroom management skills;
  2. Provide a safe and orderly environment for students;
  3. Plan effective and appropriate daily lessons and unit plans incorporating CCSS, NGSS, and other Oregon curriculum standards;
  4. Communicate with colleagues, administration, and parents/guardians in a clear and consistent manner, following district policies and protocols;
  5. Work collaboratively with colleagues and administration.

 

In addition, a successful applicant will have the ability to keep and maintain accurate attendance, academic, and behavior records, meet deadlines set forth by the school and district administration, and preserve a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality when dealing with student, staff and/or parent information.

 

The district provides professional development opportunities both within and outside of the district. 

 

Teachers may transfer up to 10 years of experience.

 

Extracurricular opportunities may be available for high school and/or junior high school sports and activities.

 

The Port Orford – Langlois School District is comprised of two locations: Driftwood Elementary School, a K–6 school located in Port Orford with a population of approximately 140 students, and Pacific High School, a 7-12 middle and high school with approximately 105 students that is located seven miles north of Port Orford and seven miles south of Langlois.
